Amazon launches new electronic reader

Faced with competition from new iPad tablet and digital multiplies Amazon ads and initiatives to strengthen the position of its Kindle reading light on the virtual market book. The electronics retailer unveiled a new version of its top model, the DX Graphite Kindle. With a better contrast, the device will cost $ 110 less.

The graphite version is distinguished by its DX Kindle coated graphite, which replaces the old white model. The electronic ink screen, which retains the same dimensions (9.7 inches diagonal or 24.6 cm), is still monochrome

The unit offers the same features and specs than its predecessor (4GB internal memory, USB ports and audio, accelerometer, etc..) And features a built-in 3G module to connect to the Kindle Store. The virtual bookshop Amazon has a catalog of 620,000 books, newspapers and electronic magazines, but most are still in English.

Price later, the graphite Kindle DX costs 379 dollars, while the Kindle DX was charged 489 dollars so far. Orders are now open on Amazon.com. Deliveries will commence from July 7.

In recent weeks, Amazon has stepped up ads to compete. The American firm was initially granted a 30% discount on the Kindle Standard ($ 189 against $ 259 before). It has also introduced a new pay system for publishers by giving them income of 70% on sales (under certain conditions). The application for the Kindle device from Apple (iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch) has developed an audio player function, video, and a version for smartphones running Google Android has also emerged.
