Nokia C7 handset has started shipping worldwide

Nokia have announced that their The Nokia C7 handset has started shipping worldwide, despite only unveiling the device less than one month ago.

The Nokia C7 is the manufacturer’s second device powered by Symbian^3, and provides users with an affordable alternative to the Nokia N8. Jo Harlow, head of smartphones at Nokia, said: “The Nokia C7 is our second smartphone based on the new version of Symbian to hit the market. Nokia have also confirmed that the handset will be priced at €335 (around £290).

The second Nokia smartphone based on the new Symbian platform, the Nokia C7 follows hot on the heels of the company's entertainment powerhouse, the Nokia N8.

The "Nokia C7" combines stainless steel and glass in a sleek, full-touch design. Following the release of this social-networking centric device, Nokia will be setting out to find the most active Facebook user from the more than 1.4 million fans on Nokia's own global Facebook page. Nokia will then pick five finalists who will each be provided with a Nokia C7 to organize a party using various social networks.

  The Nokia C7 combines stainless steel and glass in a sleek, full-touch design. Nokia is describing the C7 as the "smartphone for the design conscious social networker". It features a 3.5 inch touch-screen which is used to bring social network updates directly to your home-screen. Additionally, the Nokia C7 enables one-touch access to multiple email accounts from your home-screen with Ovi Mail, Yahoo and Windows Live all supported.
