Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 phones will go on sale

Samsung's Focus, along with the HTC HD7, is one of the most impressive of the new crop of Windows Phones. The Focus's main selling point is its Super AMOLED screen, which really pops indoors. It's also the only Windows Phone that can expand with memory cards, according to an AT&T spokesman.

Most of the other new Windows Phones slide or transform in some way. Not the Focus. Without extra gadgetry, the focus (get it) is on the screen, and what a screen it is - the same 800-by-480 panel on Samsung's successful Galaxy S phones, a real eye-popper.

With no hardware keyboard, the touch keyboard is important. Each manufacturer is allowed to add a "hub" to Windows Phone 7. The Samsung Focus is well-named - it's focused on the basic Windows Phone 7 experience, without a lot of extra bells and whistles. Windows Phone 7 itself is impressive enough that it might sell this phone alone, and Samsung provides a slim, bright stage for Microsoft to do its work.

The Samsung Focus will be available on November 8 for $199.99 with contract.

There will be five Windows Phone 7 phones available in the United States in November. T-Mobile will offer the HTC HD7 and the Dell Venue Pro. The two other Windows Phone 7 phones offered by AT&T will go on sales weeks later.

The Samsung Focus is one of the best choices of the available Windows Phone 7 launch devices. In Europe the first Windows Phone 7 phones will go on sale on October 21st.
There will possibly also be great deals on Windows Phone 7 phones with new contract from these online phone vendors.

Samsung Focus to Canada

Telus will not be the only Canadian carrier to offer Windows Phone 7 devices soon. Rogers and Bell are also readying the release of WP7 handsets (although Microsoft left them out when announcing its launch partners).

Rogers will bring the Samsung Focus to Canada, a touch-only device with a 4 inch Super AMOLED display, 5MP camera, HD video recording, 1GHz processor, and 8GB of internal memory.

The price and launch date of Rogers’ Samsung Focus was not announced.

That and, now the relief part which comes into play because of the five HTC phones that were announced on Windows Phone 7 day — none were announced for Rogers.

Any Canadian readers looking forward to grabbing something with Windows Phone 7 once available?

Samsung Star Review

The Samsung Star, that is, which is offered as a Virgin Mobile prepaid phone. Underneath the aforementioned screen sit three buttons, the first being a call button, the middle a back or home button, and lastly at the very end, an end call and power button which completes the front fascia.
The Samsung Star, Unfortunately there's no 3.5mm stereo jack so you're lumbered with the included headphones that plug into the dual-purpose power/headphone port. Firstly, the Star feels cheaper and secondly, the specifications are not as fully fledged as the older phone; no 3G capability, for starters.
The Samsung Star, Inside the Star is an MP3 player as well as an FM radio (which can only be used with the bundled headphones), producing reasonable but far from astounding sound. As for the rest of the specifications, memory is expandable up to 8GB with microSD cards, and around the back is a 3 megapixel camera with smile detection (merits debatable in a mobile phone camera).
Samsung's TouchWiz user interface makes another appearance on the "Samsung Star" and it works well on the budget model — quick and responsive, with haptic feedback. Social networkers will appreciate links to the most common sites on the Star, but there's no actual dedicated application, rather just a link to each one's mobile page. There's no LED flash either which makes it all but useless for low light camera phone photography.
The Samsung Star  was initially introduced along with the Samsung Preston S5600, both meant for people on tight budget. Samsung Star
Samsung´s star measures almost the same size, weight, functionality and general specifications like the LG Cookie KP500, but looks more shiny and polished. Unfortunately, the phone sports the standard manufacturer´s port used for both charging or connecting it to a computer and not a mainstream microUSB port.

Will Samsung's Galaxy Tab be Pricey or Cheap?

The price of the first brand-name Android tablet is anyone's guess.  Engadget heard that it would cost over $1000 without a plan.  Ouch!

The Wall St. Journal yesterday said the Samsung Galaxy Tab would be $200-$400 subsidized by a carrier in the US.  If I had to guess I'd bet we'll see it at Galaxy S prices plus $100.

Samsung recently added a new fellow in Samsung Galaxy line, the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Samsung Galaxy Tab is a 7 inch tablet, and it’s running on Android 2.2 and a lot of other features. Samsung didn’t gave any words on the pricing of the tablet yet, but Samsung is hinting that the Galaxy Tab will cost between $200 and $300 on contract (no words on which carrier is picking the Galaxy Tab in USA, but according to rumors, Verizon is most likely picking the Galaxy Tab).

How much will Samsung's Galaxy Tab tablet (which I tried at IFA last week) cost? (Samsung plans to sell the tablet exclusively through carriers, so most or all of the folks who buy one will presumably get a subsidized price.)

Samsung 3G Galaxy Tab for an even lower unsubsidized price.
(The Korea Times quotes a Samsung executive as saying that the phone will sell for slightly more than a Galaxy S smartphone. I don't know how much it costs Samsung to manufacture a Tab, but given the price of smartphones and the price of iTabs, $350 or so feels like a reasonable two-year-contract price to me.

The source code let loose by Samsung has the underlying Android OS for Sprint’s latest and greatest smarthphone, minus all the proprietary content which includes, among other things, Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.
To get knee-deep in the "Samsung Epic 4G code, you will need to point your browser to Samsung’s Open Source Release Center".
The Samsung Epic 4G is available in all Sprint retail channels, including Sprint.com, telesales and national retail partners such as RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart. Reserve Now enables them to purchase a USD 50 gift card to hold a Samsung Epic 4G when the smartphones arrive back in stock. Samsung Epic 4G works on "Sprint's 3G" and 4G networks.

Samsung Fascinate Lounch

Samsung Fascinate  Lounch on September 9th
It looks like the Venison Wireless Samsung Fascinate will be landing on September 9 according to some internal documents that was leaked.

The Samsung Fascinate represents the fourth Galaxy S variant to hit the states, after the Vibrant, Captivate, and Epic 4G. On Venison Wireless, the "Samsung Fascinate" will be joining other Droid smart phones on the carrier's high-end line up, including the Droid X, Droid 2, and the Droid Incredible.

All evidence points to a September 9th launch for the Fascinate and also Venison Wireless will be offering the DROID 2, DROID X, DROID Incredible, and Samsung Fascinate as pre-pay devices.

If you weren’t aware, the Fascinate  is a Galaxy variant packing a 4-inch AMOLED display, Android 2.1 OS, 5MP camera, and a super fast Hummingbird processor.

Samsung Galaxy Tab is nothing more than a huge cell phone.

A video today showed that Samsung’s upcoming tablet Galaxy Tab, which boasts of a 7 inch screen, is nothing more than a huge cell phone. The Tab works as a full 3G phone.

The Galaxy Tab however, is no match to iPad, which has a 10 inches screen. Samsung is planning to release the Galaxy Tab in Germany on September 2. Samsung recently released a teaser video showing the features of the Galaxy Tab. It is expected that the Galaxy Tab will support Adobe Flash.

Blurring the line between phone and tablet even further, a video today shows that the seven inch Galaxy Tablet is also a huge cell phone.
Add two inches to that, and you have the Android-powered  Samsung Galaxy Tab which is somewhere between a phone and an iPad in size. And it works as a full 3G phone.
More realistic options include using a bluetooth headset or traditional earphone jack. It isn't certain if US carriers of the Samsung Galaxy Tab will require a voice plan (or even offer one) or if they will be sold like AT&T (T) sells its Apple (AAPL) iPads.
Speaking of iPad, the "Samsung Galaxy Tab" seems to be significantly smaller than the 10-inch screen iPad, though the resolution of the screens aren't that much different

Samsung Captivate (AT&T) review

We weren't really expecting to hear anything until June 29, but we now have our first confirmed Galaxy S phone sighting and it's been identified as the Samsung Captivate.

ops .... really awesome okay I continue

AT&T revealed on Thursday that it will offer the Captivate in the coming months, but it didn't provide a specific date or pricing. This announcement follows Samsung's worldwide launch of the Galaxy S i9000 and shows that the company isn't limiting the Galaxy S to just one type of design.

As you can see from the photo, the Captivate has more of a hard-edged design than the i9000 has, but it still rocks a beautiful 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen. Some of the benefits of Samsung's Super AMOLED technology are that it allows for thinner displays, improved touch sensitivity, and better visibility in bright environments, which we saw when we checked out the Super AMOLED screen on the Samsung Wave. The Captivate also has a six-axis sensor, built-in accelerometer, a gyroscope, and has pinch-to-zoom support.

With such a beautiful screen and Samsung's 1GHz Hummingbird application processor to keep things moving, it's no surprise that multimedia will play a key role on the Captivate.

In addition to having a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording, the phone has 16GB of onboard storage (expandable up to 32GB) and 3D surround sound. Samsung will preload the smartphone with its Media Hub that lets you access video and e-book content from "some of the biggest names in entertainment," but it hasn't disclosed details about content providers yet.

The Captivate will ship running Android 2.1 and features a new and improved version of TouchWiz interface that includes widgets for Samsung's Social Hub feature where you can see your contacts' latest updates (very similar to HTC's Friend Stream) and favorite contacts. The main menu of applications is also spread out across several panels that you can swipe from side-to-side instead of vertically like current Android phones. Its other goodies include 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a full HTML Web browser.

Samsung, the largest company in the world for the production of screens

Samsung disagrees with statements made by Steve Jobs during the official presentation of the new iPhone 4 took place last Monday at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2010.

During the event, Apple CEO had paused to explain all the technical improvements applefonino last, lingering on the screen Retina (3.5 inches, 640x960 pixels for 326 ppi resolution and contrast 800:1), which he thinks is technologically higher than the OLED technology.

According to a spokesman of Samsung, the largest company in the world for the production of screens, the screen is actually clearer Retina 3 to 5% compared to this Samsung AMOLED Super Galaxy S (image at bottom of article ), but wastes 30% more energy.

In addition, Samsung believes that its screens are best for contrast and viewing angle and continues with the final lunge "structurally IPS LCD technology is not at par with that of AM-OLED"
