The HTC Desire still stands out as the best Android-based handset on the market. It's style, build quality, features, and usability simply haven't been matched since its release three months ago. Not a company to stand still, though, HTC is busy working on the Desire's successor and we may just have had a sneak peak at what we can expect.

Recently leaked on the SuperETrader blog, the specs break down as follows:
* 4.3 inch WVGA Touch Screen
* 8 Mega Pixel Camera
* 1 GHZ Qualcomm Processor
* Android 2.2 OS
* HD 720p Video Capture
* Xvid Video Playback
* SRS Surround Sound
* Automatic Face Tracking
* Adobe Flash 10 Support
* 4GB Internal Memory (up to 32GB)
* E-book Reader Feature
* Uni-Body Aluminium Design
It all sounds pretty exciting but the big news is of course the increase to a whopping 4.3in screen and the uni-body aluminium chassis. Frankly, we're not happy to hear it's going to have such a large screen. Unless the company can perform miracles and fit it in a chassis no bigger than the Desire then it's likely to be a bit too big for most people.
We're more positive about the aluminium design, though. We loved its use on the HTC Legend, and in fact at the time we wished HTC had used the same tech on the Desire - it looks like we got our wish.
Also intriguing is the e-book reader feature. While we suspect it's simply that you'll be able to buy e-books through the Android Market, it'll be interesting to see if there's some actual technology innovations to accompany it.
This new phone is expected to arrive in October with the name of either Desire HD or Ace. What do you think? Is there anything missing that you'd like to have seen, does the screen size concern you, or does it sound just about perfect? Let us know in the comments.
