Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) has launched a new 4G device to extend its wireless internet service.
The new HTC EVO Shift smartphone has been rolled out by Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) with a two-year data plan. David Owens, Sprint Nextel’s (NYSE:S) vice president of consumer acquisition said, “It went with the low price because it wants to use discount pricing to help expand the EVO brand to a broader swath of the U.S. population.”
Sprint Nextel (NYSE:S) shares were at 4.45 at the end of the last day’s tradingAt the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, US carrier Sprint announced the new HTC EVO Shift 4G - a WiMax-powered slide-out handset that boasts a four-row QWERTY keyboard.
The Android-based HTC EVO Shift 4G - which will be available from Sprint and its retail partners from Sunday, January 9 - is different in design as compared to its predecessor, the" HTC EVO 4G"; and essentially takes on Samsung's popular `Epic 4G' handset in the Sprint line-up.
The handset also features the ability to work as a Wi-Fi hotspot for connecting up to eight Wi-Fi devices to the Internet.
when Sprint announced the new HTC Evo Shift 4G, it said the smartphone would be available starting January 9.
The Evo Shift is Sprint’s third 4G Android smartphone, coming with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, a 3.6 inch WVGA multi-touch display, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, 5MP camera, HD video recording, and an 800MHz Qualcomm processor.
