The iPhone virus

iPhone virus
Lost without the IPhone?
The Blackberry was a few years ago, the battle with the IPhone. It is clear that the Blackberry has lost this battle. Was your time very happy that you had a BlackBerry, now almost dare you not to tell anyone ....

BlackBerry
After several major disruptions to BlackBerry's popularity dropped to the level 0. Unfortunately I must say, because despite the failures, the phone just very pleasant to use. Of course there are many more phones where you can join, but do not be too demanding than the BlackBerry is an excellent phone.

iPhone
Clearly, the iPhone is the most popular phone worldwide. I myself was until half a year ago, not 'to', but by the people around me, I am also infected with the virus Iphone. Now I unfortunately have to wait until I can renew my subscription, because in my time very popular BlackBerry, I did a 2-year contract ended (I wanted to provisionally anything else?)

Buy
Of course I would also just buy an IPhone, but what are those bitches expensive. My question is always how all those other people perceive them. Do they have a money tree in the garden?

When the Verizon iPhone 4 arrives

Verizon iPhone 4 CDMA may be released in the first quarter of 2011, and  lot of gossips are rotating on its cost. Apples move is very positive so far and estimates that Verizon could significantly boost  iPhone sales.

When the Verizon iPhone 4 arrives, millions of Verizon customers will immediately embrace the idea and jump on board. Expect limited data plans. Any hope of a Verizon iPhone 4 with an unlimited monthly data usage option went out the window when Verizon announced that the Verizon iPad would only come with a choice of limited data plans for the optionally bundled mifi mobile network. Think the Verizon iPhone 4 data plans will be any better?
Expect Verizon to get worse. All those Verizon customers who’ve stuck with a simple flip-phone all this time, in the hopes that the Verizon iPhone was just around the corner, have never used a byte of mobile data in their lives. But once they start moving to the Verizon iPhone and getting their first taste of mobile email and internet (and Twitter, Facebook, maps, etc), expect Verizon’s data network to get worse. Perhaps not as severely as AT&T’s data network has. Speaking of laws… Some civilized nations have regulations regarding network quality, tower placement per user density, and so on. Here’s more on the Verizon iPhone 4 launch.

Verizon iPhone Release Date March 2011 & White iPhone 4 Release Delay: Following the announcement of partnership with Verizon, Apple has scheduled to launch an iPhone that will be able to make calls on Verizon’s network most likely in March 2011, says an analyst. Verizon iPhone Release Date March 2011 & White iPhone 4 Release Delay: Following the announcement of partnership with Verizon, Apple has scheduled to launch an iPhone that will be able to make calls on Verizon’s network most likely in March 2011, says an analyst.

Apple-Verizon partnership will also see Verizon selling Apple’s Wi-Fi iPad. As of late, Apple has announced that 2,000 Verizon stores will be having iPads for sale on October 28. Apple has never given discounts on the iPhone though it provides special prices on Black Friday for the Mac and iPod lines.
Nielsen reported that the iPhone’s share has declined from January’s 32 percent to 26 percent.

Limera1n jailbreak iOS 4.1 Aviable on Mac

Last week Geohot gave all Apple jailbreaking fanatics something to get excited about with their new jailbreak tool Limera1n which allowed jailbreaking of the iPhone 4. Well, those people’s prayers have been answered as Limera1n can now be loaded from a Mac. The jailbreak tool isn’t just limited to the iPhone 4 however, as it is actually an iOS 4.1 jailbreak which works on any device which uses the latest Apple OS (so you iPad and iPod Touch owners can get excited too).

As we all know by now that members of the iPhone Dev-Team have been working hard to come up with the updated version of PwnageTool to jailbreak iOS 4.1. A respected member of the iPhone Dev-Team, @wizdaz has successfully ported the tool to work with PwnageTool. Ultrasn0w unlockers should wait for PwnageTool.

As with the Windows build, Mac users simply connect their device to the computer, launch the "Limera1n" application, click the “make it rain” button in Limera1n’s interface, follow the on-screen instructions to enter DFU mode, and allow the tool to finalize the jailbreak.

Unlocking / jailbreaking your iPhone / iPod touch / iPad / Apple TV may violate your warranty or the EULA with Apple and / or your cellular-service provider.

Game Center iphone and ipod

If you're an iPhone owner the average is 40 apps, according to a new study on mobile phone usage from Nielsen. Android users have 25 apps and Blackberry users own 22. The most popular apps are games in general but the most downloaded app across all platforms is Facebook.

Now, Apple (AAPL) looks to capitalize on the connection between gaming and social networking, as it introduced the new Game Center software into iTunes. Game Center allows for multi-player gaming over an iPhone or an iPod touch, and as of this writing, there are 29 games available where you can challenge friends. Those games include the ridiculously popular Farmville, Flight Control and the enduring Pac-Man.
There will certainly be more games available for shared playing as developers start to incorporate the tools that Apple's upgraded iOS 4.1 have made possible. Of course, it's early in Game Center's lifespan, and one influential game reviewer offers a mixed review.
-- "The stylistic choices Apple has made with regard to the appearance of Games Center ...  looks like a cheap online poker application."-- "The setup's ... reassuringly Apple-like in its simplicity."The iPod was not the fist digital music player and the iPhone was not the first smartphone, but Apple is the leader in both categories, so expect Game Center to become a solid and popular product.
Google is the new Microsoft
Microsoft (MSFT) and Apple took opposite approaches to personal computing. The Microsoft operating platform became and remains the overwhelmingly dominant system. Android is everywhere with products made by everyone. It trails Nokia's struggling Symbian system and is ahead of the mobile OS platforms from Research in Motion, Apple and Microsoft.
We'll have to wait even longer to see how Game Center compares to Windows Phone 7's Xbox Live gaming experience, which ties into Microsoft's well established Xbox Live service on the 360. It will support multiplayer games, leader boards, messaging and more.
Apple have recently hinted at an upcoming service aimed at the gamers among their customers, called “Game Center” which will host a variety of games and similar services, for the iPod Touch and iPhone 4/3GS.
In the Game Center, you’ll find various social networking features aimed at connecting you with your gamer friends, like friends lists and multiplayer functionality.

Last year, Apple rejected the Google Voice iPhone app resulting in a fight from Google.

Could we be seeing an official Google Voice iPhone app in the near future?
The question was raised during today’s Google Voice/Gmail press conference. Last year, controversy erupted when Apple rejected the Google Voice iPhone app. Craig Walker, the group product manager for Google Voice, said that “nothing has changed” since Google, Apple and AT&T submitted their letters to the FCC last year.

Verizon iPhone Not Definite as T-Mobile and Sprint Are Option

As one analyst adds to the choir of Verizon iPhone predictions, a new theory is taking shape: Apple's coveted smartphone could come to Sprint or T-Mobile first.

Wu wouldn't rule out the possibility of Sprint or T-Mobile getting the iPhone instead of, or in addition to, Verizon.

Murmurs of a Sprint or T-Mobile iPhone have been heard before. A CDMA iPhone is starting to seem like a foregone conclusion, and if Verizon drops the ball, Sprint is there.

So what's the problem with Verizon? As Wu points out, the iPhone costs more for AT&T compared with Android and BlackBerry phones for Verizon, and Apple probably wants Verizon to pay a similar price.

Although Verizon could offer 93 million potential iPhone subscribers if everyone took up the iPhone 4, if Apple goes with Sprint who have 48 million and T-Mobile who have 34 million, their join subscribers could be 82 million which would expand the iPhone subscriber base extensively.

So what do our readers think, will Verizon get the iPhone first as expected or will Apple go with T-Mobile and Sprint first,.

Facebook for blackberry,Facebook for iphone, facebook for android

Facebook have recently started to give us user stats for its mobile applications and users that operate them for its available platforms such as the BlackBerry, iPhone, Android based handsets and the iPad.
The number of users are quite shocking with the iPhone taking the larger percentile of users with over 104 million active monthly users.
What form of device do you use to access Facebook?
Facebook is showing off some of its mobile usage data and it shows that its Apple iPhone and BlackBerry users handily outnumber Android users.
According to the company’s Facebook for iPhone page, there are nearly 105 million active monthly iPhone users. This number seems a bit fishy because Apple recently said that iOS is on track to break 100 million users.
The Apple iPhone app is the only dedicated app that can access Facebook Places, while others platforms can only use it through the touch-enable mobile website.
The Android page says there are a little over 12 million Android Facebook users.
On the heels of announcing a major mobile push with “Places,” Facebook announced today usage numbers for its various mobile apps — namely iOS, Android and Blackberry.
A big reason Facebook Places was such a big deal in the LBS world was Facebook’s massive installed mobile user base.  To give a glimpse of that user base, Facebook indicates there are nearly 105 million active monthly iPhone users.

Apple:first response to the iPhone 4's antenna problems

Apple flunked its first response to the iPhone 4's antenna problems, but the company turned everything around with a last-minute press conference and free bumper cases,

think about what you are thinking right now? and what your responses to current
one crisis communications expert said.

"I think after a real slow start, they've done very well," said Jonathan Bernstein, a crisis management specialist and tech enthusiast. Apple chief executive Steve Jobs initially came across as arrogant and uncaring, Bernstein said, but ultimately the company was candid in explaining what went wrong with the iPhone 4 and how it would be fixed.

Since the iPhone 4's launch, Apple has endured complaints about the iPhone 4's external antenna. The phone loses signal or drops calls, mostly in areas of low coverage, when a finger bridges the gap in the antenna on the phone's lower left-hand corner.

Apple initially dismissed the problem as a "non-issue," advising people to buy a bumper case or hold the phone differently. Then the company blamed the way signal bars are displayed, and promised a software update. Finally, Apple called a press conference last Friday, in which Jobs admitted the iPhone 4 is not perfect, claimed that all phones have this issue, and offered free bumper cases or full refunds on returns.

The latest response pleased Bernstein, who said that barring any other foul-ups with the iPhone or other products in the near future, Apple should escape this fiasco with its reputation intact. "The best defense against it is to have a strong cushion of good will already established. Apple has that," Bernstein said.

Still, he said Apple's response wasn't perfect. Jobs didn't do enough to reassure customers about the quality of the product. Bernstein used his wife as an example of how people are still concerned; she recently went to an Apple Store to ask questions about the iPhone 4's antenna, where previously she wouldn't have hesitated to buy the phone. A recent survey by IDC found that 66 percent of people who own older iPhones are holding off on upgrades, and 25 percent of new buyers are now delaying their puchases.

Bernstein also didn't think much of how Apple blamed other phone makers for having antenna problems. "Pointing fingers at other people is never a first line of defense unless other people have deliberately and directly harmed you," he said.

Jim Lukaszewski, another crisis communications expert and an author of six books on public relations, echoed Jobs' claim that the iPhone 4 antenna issue was blown out of proportion. "I don't know anybody who's worried about it," Lukaszewski said. "My sons are the folks who waited in line since three in the morning to have this thing, and they just roll their eyes at all this coverage."

Lukaszewski said imperfect products are just the nature of the technology business, and that Apple fixed the problem the best it could by taking action. "This company is really a model in handling these kinds of problems, because they do what they're supposed to do as soon as they're capable of doing it," he said.

Bernstein said Apple is subject to extra scrutiny because of the expectations people have of Apple products. The BP oil spill wasn't surprising, he said, but everyone's shocked to hear of a flaw in the latest iPhone.

The iPhone 4 antenna problem is real

The iPhone 4 antenna problem is real. Apple needs to step up and make things right for the customers affected by it, and that may be what the company plans to do during a last-minute press conference Friday.

apkah your iphone users? and if you are experiencing the same thing?

The press conference will start 10 a.m. at Apple’s town hall in Cupertino, California, and Wired.com will provide news coverage of the event. You can also follow follow @gadgetlab or @bxchen on Twitter to stay plugged in to the news in real time.

Multiple independent tests have found that the iPhone 4 was more likely to suffer from attenuation (i.e., signal degradation) compared to similar handsets, when held in a very natural position covering the antenna gap in the lower-left corner.

The tests so far, performed by Consumer Reports and some bloggers, aren’t perfectly scientific, but they are consistent and repeatable. They point to the same inescapable conclusion: The iPhone 4’s antenna issues are related to a hardware design flaw.

That’s not a problem that can be resolved with an upcoming software update to correct the way the iPhone 4 displays signal strength, as Apple has promised.

On top of that, the reader reports about this issue continue to pour in to inboxes of several tech publications, including Wired, Gizmodo and Engadget.

Sure, there are lots of reasons to cheer about the iPhone 4. We like it, too, as shown in Wired.com’s very positive review of the device. In that review we did note the iPhone 4 is not a reliable phone, but a great overall device, particularly if you’re among that growing majority of people who use their phones more for Twitter and e-mail than for talking.

And in our own tests, as well as the reports of many readers, the antenna problem is not especially serious. It is likely that it only affects the minority of iPhone 4 customers, either because of quirks in Apple’s manufacturing process or because those users are in especially weak signal areas.

Still, even if the antenna issues are affecting a minority, the minority population for the iPhone 4 is big. Keep in mind this device is on track to be the best-selling phone ever, with sales topping 1.7 million in the first three days of launch.

Apple has long been a brand respected for excellent customer service and rock-solid industrial design. Wired.com believes that Apple should do the following in order to retain the respectability of its brand and loyalty of customers:
Change the antenna design

A full hardware recall, which an analyst estimates would cost Apple $1.6 billion, isn’t necessary. But at this point, Apple can still remedy the hardware defect in later shipments.
Provide free bumpers

On Apple’s support website, iPhone 4 customers should be able to request a free bumper if they report experiencing attenuation. It’s an easy enough fix that’s been confirmed to alleviate the problem, for those who don’t mind wearing an ugly bumper.
Replace the phone for those who ask

If iPhone 4 customers bring their handsets into an Apple Store, they should be able to exchange the device for a newer “fixed” model at no charge, as long as they’re under warranty. We think many users will be satisfied with a free case — in addition to providing antenna insulation, it also protects the iPhone’s two glass faces — but for those who aren’t, a replacement phone is a fair deal.

These steps may cost Apple a lot of money, but it’s the right thing to do. And whatever the cost, it’s nothing relative to the long-term damage that this problem will inflict on Apple if it goes unfixed.

For proof, look no further than the billions of dollars in market capitalization that Apple has shed since the iPhone 4 launch. There’s no clearer sign that the market wants this problem fixed, and now.

We agree.

The iPhone has the new version 4 operating system

On Monday, Steve Jobs introduced the audience to his lecture at the Worldwide Developers Conference Apple's fourth version of its mobile phone.

The iPhone 4, named this model brings some changes from previous versions. The most obvious has to do with his appearance, now dominated by right-angled edges. The front and rear are reinforced glass, while the back is a steel band that functions as an antenna.

The team also offers a screen with a higher resolution than previous models, reaching the 960 x 640 pixels, as the display is still 3.5 ", this density of pixels on, according to Apple, the appearance of texts quality display that could have letters printed on paper. In the presentation it was announced that the electronic bookstore IPAD available for the tablet will work on the iPhone.

Another element shared by both devices is the central processor A4. As for storage capacity, there are two options: 16 and 32 GB. Be available in two colors: black and white.

Besides offering the team the 5-band 3G (as the next Nokia N8) n Wi-Fi GPS accelerometer, the iPhone 4 includes a gyroscope, which detects the movement of mobile six-axis, which is very useful for video games.

It also includes a digital camera renewed 5 megapixel camera with flash LED and the ability to record video in HD quality (1280 x 720 pixels each table).

A second front camera allows video calls, but only with Apple's proprietary application called FaceTime.

The iPhone has the new version 4 operating system, now known as IOS, which is also available for earlier models, its most notable change is that it offers multi-tasking (ie, the ability to use multiple applications simultaneously) and tools to corporate users, such as synchronizing multiple email accounts hosted on Microsoft Exchange servers.

The 24th of this month will go on sale in the United States and parts of Europe, at a price of $ 199 for the 16GB model and $ 299 for 32 GB. Apple executives confirmed to La Nacion that next September will be available in the region, but no details of their arrival in Argentina. No local operator announced plans to offer its users, one of the complications is that being manufactured outside the country pay all the taxes that took effect this year with the scheme which encourages the manufacture of equipment in Tierra del Fuego

The Android powered HTC EVO 4G,

The iPhone 4G is expected to be announced on June 7th when Apple opens up the WWDC2010 conference in San Francisco. This has been the venue of choice for all previous iPhone announcements, so it’s hard to believe that the iPhone 4G would be any exception.

The Android powered HTC EVO 4G, sold by Sprint, is expected to be available for at least pre-order by the end of the month (May).

So within just a few weeks from right now, we could have a major increase in 4G enabled mobile phones coming to the market. And surely lines will start forming for these ultra fast web enabled mobile phones.

There’s only one problem that most people aren’t talking about – there is hardly any 4G hot spots available in the United States.

So someone please correct me if I’m wrong, or I’m missing some updated information about the 4G coverage area, but at the moment 4G coverage seems very sparse – at best.

And if my research is correct – why in the world would someone buy a 4G enabled device, pay the extra money for 4G speed, yet not be able to use the 4G speed unless they live in just one of the very few metro areas that are currently enabled for 4G.

As you can see in the legend of this 4G coverage map, the coverage for literally the most populated quarter of the United States is very limited.

Again, I’ve only been searching Google for 4G coverage maps and this is the best one I have found so far. So if I’m missing something, please let me know – I don’t claim to know all things, all the time!

If the 4G coverage is limited at the moment, then it seems to me that Apple is going to struggle with satisfied customers who buy up the iPhone 4G and who are disappointed when they realize where they live doesn’t have 4G coverage.

And also Spring customers once they get there nice, new, shiny HTC EVO 4G but cannot get 4G mobile Internet speed.

What are your thoughts?

So am I finding outdated 4G coverage maps, or am I on the right track here?

What do you think about the current issue of 4G enabled phones coming to market, but the 4G network not being available for these new mobile phones?

Apple iPod touch 8 GB (2nd Generation--with iPhone OS 3.1 Software Installed) [NEWEST MODEL]

3GS of Apple's 16GB iPhone on sale 97 USD

Walmart has revealed that it will begin selling the 16GB iPhone 3GS for $97 this week, more than $100 off of Apple's $199 suggested retail price.

Starting Tuesday, the lower capacity iPhone 3GS will cost roughly the same amount as Apple's 8GB iPhone 3G. Earlier Monday, a new rumor suggested Apple could be discontinuing the iPhone 3G, which was originally released in 2008.

According to CNNMoney, the new deal from Walmart still requires a two-year contract with carrier AT&T. The U.S. price reduction comes in advance of Memorial Day weekend.

"It is our commitment to always lead on price," said Mehrdad Akbar, senior category director for Walmart.

The move comes less than two weeks before Apple is expected to introduce its next-generation handset, when Chief Executive Steve Jobs delivers the opening keynote for the annual Worldwide Developers Conference on June 7.

The price reduction could be permanent. One analyst said Monday they believe Apple will formally reduce the price of the iPhone 3GS to $99 once the new model is released. Last year, after the iPhone 3GS was released, Apple reduced the price of the 8GB iPhone 3G to $99.

The partnership between Apple and Walmart started in 2005 when the retailer began a pilot program selling Apple's short-lived HP-branded 20GB iPod. Over time, the nation's largest retail chain began carrying Apple's full line of iPods, and in 2008 some of its stores began selling the iPhone 3G. Recently, company officials said they hope to sell the iPad by the end of 2010.

24 million rumored iPhones 4Gs to the 10 million rumored CDMA iPhones

Apple is betting big that its upcoming - and noticeably improved - iPhone 4G will be an instant worldwide hit, according to a report citing Taiwanese parts suppliers.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo at DigiTimes says that Cupertino has ordered 24 million units for this year alone from its Chinese assembler, Foxconn. Kuo also provided more details on the increasingly not-so-secret phone, expected to be revealed on the opening day of Apple's upcoming Worldwide Developer Conference, which runs from June 7 through 11.

Foxconn, according to the DigiTimes report, is front-loading the shipments with 4.5 million units to be delivered in the first half of the year, with the remaining 19.5 due during the following six months.

These numbers are aggressive, but not unreasonable. According to its most recent Form 10-Q filing (PDF) with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Apple sold 8.75 million iPhones worldwide in the quarter ending March 27, and 17.5 million for the six-month period ending that quarter.

When reporting those financial results, Apple COO Tim Cook emphasized the growth in international iPhone sales, citing a 474 per cent sales surge in the Asia-Pacific region, year-on-year, in that quarter. Add international growth to the pent-up demand for upgrades of earlier iPhones, and 24 million phones built by Foxconn is not out of the question. And remember, these are phones being delivered to Apple, not to end-users, so millions of them will carry over into the first quarter of 2011.

DigiTimes's Kuo also provided details on why the iPhone 4G might tempt existing iPhone 3G and 3GS users to hand their existing Cupertinian handsets down to their kids and move up to a new phone.

For example, Kuo said that the iPhone 4G's display will have a resolution of 960 by 640 pixels. A Motorola Droid, by comparison, has a resolution of 854 by 480; the Google Nexus One, 800 by 480; and the current iPhone 3GS, a measly 480-by-320.

Like the iPad, the new iPhone's display - if Kuo is correct - will be an in-plane switching (IPS) TFT-LCD to improve off-angle viewing. Interestingly, Kuo says that the display will also employ fringe-field switching - better known as advanced fringe-field switching (AFFS) - which is an upgraded version of IPS, not an addition to it. Perhaps DigiTimes merely needs more-attentive editors.

Kuo also claims that the iPhone 4G's display will be 33 per cent thinner than the one in the iPhone 3GS, which should allow for a larger battery.

Finally, Kuo notes that the phone will be powered by a single-core ARM Cortex A8, which is consistent with what iFixIt and Chipworks discovered in their Apple A4 dissection. The new A4/Cortex/however-you-want-to-brand-it will have 512MB of RAM aboard the processor package, twice that of the iPad and iPhone 3GS - meaning its multitasking capabilities when running iPhone OS 4.0 should be superior to that of the first-generation iPad.

Add these 24 million rumored iPhones 4Gs to the 10 million rumored CDMA iPhones that DigiTimes told us about last week, and the Apple juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down.

found in Vietnam 'secret prototype iPhone 4G'

The secret gadget, identified by technology experts as being similar to a version found recently in a Silicon Valley bar, was given to a mobile phone accessory dealer in Ho Chi Minh City.

It remains unclear how the device, which has a front facing camera and has the distinctive Apple markings, arrived in Vietnam or if it is actually an Apple product.

Some claimed it may be a fake Chinese model.

If confirmed, it would mark a second serious breach in Apple's legendary wall of secrecy in as many months.

In March a technology news blog, Gizmodo, published details of an “invaluable” 4G prototype after it bought it from a blogger who found it in the American bar.

It created a furuore after details emerged last week that Steve Jobs, the Apple co-founder, personally tried to stop its publication.

Lawyers acting for the 55 year-old multi-billionaire claimed publication of the new generation phone’s secret features would be "immensely damaging" to the technology giant.

The website, which is owned by Gawker Media, was handed to the website by a 21 year-old blogger, Brian Hogan, who sold it for $5,000 (£3443).

A Silicon Valley police task force is investigating the website after the company, roughly valued at £242 billion, claimed the prototype had been stolen.

The latest pictures and video of an iPhone 4G were published online by the Vietnamese Web site Taoviet last week after they were posted by the dealer, Tran Manh Hiep.

The phone in the photos, are almost identical to the one which was lost in March and published by Gizmodo, the New York-based website.

Mr Hiep said the prototype 4th generation iPhone was not his but was shown to him by a customer.

He then filmed it and posted the video on a forum, where he was a moderator.

U.S. blogs then reposted video of an unidentified person holding the phone as well as several images of it being taken apart.

The new device has also been turned on, revealing an image of an explosion and the sign "Inferno" on the screen.

According to the MacRumors website, the iPhone pictures include the "N90" moniker, understood to be the internal code name for the next iPhone.

It also reported that a Vietnamese businessman, who has not been named but it thought to be a mobile phone dealer, bought the iPhone 4G in the U.S. while he was purchasing an iPad.

Engadget, a gadget blog, said that if a translation of comments posted on its website were true in its comments section is true, the man paid US $4,000 (£2770) for the device. A video has also been posted on YouTube.

Some Vietnamese messages posted on Mr Hiep's forum questioned the authenticity of the phone, suggesting that it may be a fake Chinese model.

Many counterfeit phones make their way into Vietnam.

But Mr Hiep, who declined to name the phone's owner, claimed it was a “real Apple product” because it worked with other products from the technology giant.

"It's a real iPhone because when I plugged it into a Mac, it recognised it as an Apple product," he said.

"I plugged it into iTunes and it recognised it as an Apple device.”

He said the iPhone he saw was very similar to the one published Gizmodo but it seemed "newer", with small changes such as the absence of two screws on the underside.

"It looks almost exactly the same as the one that appeared on Gizmodo's website. But it looks newer and has no screws."

According to Gizmodo, features of the new phone, expected to be unveiled later this year, include a front-facing video camera for video chat, a flash and an improved regular camera with a larger lens.

It also has a flat back instead of curved back, is thinner than the 3GS, is three grams heavier and has a battery that is 16 percent larger.

Apple jealously guards its unreleased products, particularly the iPhone. Last year Apple made $13 billion from its iPhone, which was almost a third of total company sales.
