verizon iphone release date

The phone that the masses have been calling for finally has a set date for release.
Boy Genius Report says sources are confirming that Apple is trying to specifically eliminate vacation time for their employees from February 3 to February 6 leading us to believe that could be the weekend the Verizon iPhone becomes official.

erizon announced a special press conference on January 11th that has set this rumor ablaze. Typically, these blackout weekends will have a little more notification. As CNET reporters believe, this won’t be the case because the likely reason Apple is even joining forces with Verizon is to gain market share in the increasingly enormous smartphone department. They believe, if Apple goes to LTE 4G, it would probably just result in lose most Verizon subscribers.

After reading the title of the post you might think, … oh no, Verizon iPhone thing again!, but Boy Genius Report claims that both Apple and Verizon are all set to launch CDMA iPhone 4 on February 3rd.
The main point in this report, according to BGR, is that Apple’s “Employee Blackout” dates are scheduled this year from February 3rd to February 6th in several regions of the United States, suggesting that a major launch is coming for that weekend.

Here come this week’s Verizon iPhone rumor and boy is it from a reliable source. While the source didn’t state Verizon iPhone as the reason for this blacked out employee vacation request, BGR, us and you know that it has to do with the CDMA iPhone and nothing else.

Motorola Xoom tablet

Greetings from Las Vegas, everyone! The Motorola press conference was one of the most eagerly anticipated moments of CES for me, as I was hoping to see the might-as-well-already-be-official Motorola Xoom tablet that was leaked all over the place. Though I mostly had to admire the Xoom from afar, I was given some brief time to handle the new Motorola tablet. It felt ridiculously large, but when I saw some demos of the Xoom in action, I didn’t seem to mind as much. Check out the video below to see these demos. For now the Xoom will be launched on Verizon’s 3G network, but is upgradeable to LTE 4G whenever the time comes.

Though there have been tablets running Android on the market since last year, the Motorola Xoom, debuted today at CES in Las Vegas for the very first time, represents the first real Android tablet sanctioned by Google, running an operating system designed explicitly for tablets. Forget the Samsung Galaxy Tab, forget it completely. The device has a 10-inch widescreen display and is actually a hair thinner than an iPad: Xoom measures 12.9mm at the middle while the iPad measures 13.4 mm. In a preview video, they zipped through many screens of Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb, the Google tablet OS. Highlights include a powerful multi-tab full-screen Chrome browser with Adobe Flash support (unlike the iPad), a full-screen Gmail with a sleek modern look and lots of space for previewing emails, and a Google Books app that lets you swipe through your books. I believe the Chrome tabbed browsing experience will be a key part of the Honeycomb life.
The iPad is a vessel for great development.

Next up, the Motorola DROID BIONIC 4G smartphone featuring a 4.3-inch qHD touch screen display (plays for 1080p HD content), Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 1 GHz dual-core processor, VGA front-facing camera (video calls over Wi-Fi / 4G), 8 MP rear-facing camera  Adobe Flash Player and HTML5 support, 512 MB of RAM, support for Wi-Fi/ 3G / 4G / Bluetooth / GPS connectivity and Mirror Mode streaming (plays on TV & device simultaneously).

LG Optimus 2X-LG this morning announced the Optimus Black

The LG Optimus 2X, an Android-based touchscreen smartphone, will also be the world's first phone to capture, store and play back video in full 1080p resolution, Ahn noted. Also at CES, the company unveiled another Android smartphone, which it promoted as offering the world's brightest smartphone display. The Optimus Black features proprietary Nova display with 700-nit brightness for outdoor visibility in strong sunlight, yet it's more power efficient than conventional LCDs and AMOLED displays, the company contended.

The Optimus Black GSM/HSPA phone is only 0.36 inches thick at its thickest point and tapers down to 0.24 inches at its thinnest point, making it the world's slimmest cellphone, the company also claimed.

It's upgradable to Android 2.3. It's also the world's first smartphone with Wi-Fi Direct capability for direct transfer of phone content to other mobile devices and PCs, and it also features the world's first front-facing 2-magapixel camera for video chats.

LG this morning announced the Optimus Black, a new, slim Android smartphone with a super-bright LCD screen. The Korean cell phone maker also showed off the LG Optimus 2X, the world's first dual-core mobile phone. (Check out the slideshow below for hands-on images of both phones.)
The Optimus Black is today's genuinely new phone, as the Optimus 2X was announced a few weeks ago. That comapres to 500 nits on the iPhone 4 and 300 nits on the Super AMOLED screen on the Samsung Galaxy S.
When I took a picture of the Optimus Black and a Galaxy S next to each other in a dark room, the brightness of the Optimus Black's screen blew out on my photo; it's noticeably brighter than the other phone. The Black's 2-megapixel front-facing camera is billed as a world's first, although that's a little less impressive. The Black is also the first phone I've seen to support Wi-Fi Direct. That means awesome video and gaming: the phone has an HDMI port that can mirror the phone's screen on an HDTV or play 1080p HD videos, and it's supposed to play immersive, high-def games better than any other handheld.
LG didn't announce North American release plans for either phone

When the Verizon iPhone 4 arrives

Verizon iPhone 4 CDMA may be released in the first quarter of 2011, and  lot of gossips are rotating on its cost. Apples move is very positive so far and estimates that Verizon could significantly boost  iPhone sales.

When the Verizon iPhone 4 arrives, millions of Verizon customers will immediately embrace the idea and jump on board. Expect limited data plans. Any hope of a Verizon iPhone 4 with an unlimited monthly data usage option went out the window when Verizon announced that the Verizon iPad would only come with a choice of limited data plans for the optionally bundled mifi mobile network. Think the Verizon iPhone 4 data plans will be any better?
Expect Verizon to get worse. All those Verizon customers who’ve stuck with a simple flip-phone all this time, in the hopes that the Verizon iPhone was just around the corner, have never used a byte of mobile data in their lives. But once they start moving to the Verizon iPhone and getting their first taste of mobile email and internet (and Twitter, Facebook, maps, etc), expect Verizon’s data network to get worse. Perhaps not as severely as AT&T’s data network has. Speaking of laws… Some civilized nations have regulations regarding network quality, tower placement per user density, and so on. Here’s more on the Verizon iPhone 4 launch.

Verizon iPhone Release Date March 2011 & White iPhone 4 Release Delay: Following the announcement of partnership with Verizon, Apple has scheduled to launch an iPhone that will be able to make calls on Verizon’s network most likely in March 2011, says an analyst. Verizon iPhone Release Date March 2011 & White iPhone 4 Release Delay: Following the announcement of partnership with Verizon, Apple has scheduled to launch an iPhone that will be able to make calls on Verizon’s network most likely in March 2011, says an analyst.

Apple-Verizon partnership will also see Verizon selling Apple’s Wi-Fi iPad. As of late, Apple has announced that 2,000 Verizon stores will be having iPads for sale on October 28. Apple has never given discounts on the iPhone though it provides special prices on Black Friday for the Mac and iPod lines.
Nielsen reported that the iPhone’s share has declined from January’s 32 percent to 26 percent.

Windows phone 7 expensive to succeed?‎

After years as the laugh stock of the mobile world, Microsoft finally has a shot to regain its dignity, and sales, with Windows Phone 7.
Microsoft’s poor reputation was driven home for me most recently at CTIA, when I was getting a briefing on the new Ford Sync product, which uses Microsoft technology.
The huge irony is that Ford with Sync actually does have the best integrated media experience in the market, but most people will use it with an iPod, because Microsoft’s competing offering just isn’t much of a player in this market. This means that some new Ford products have the hot new second-gen Sync II product, but most are still shipping with the aging original Sync.Ford’s flagship car, the Taurus SHO, unfortunately uses the old Sync, which would knock it off my short list despite being one hell of a car for the money. Ford needs to fix this.
We saw phones for people that wanted mostly to listen to music with built-in Yamaha speakers, phones that were best for video with bigger screens, and phones for business use with keyboards.
The Windows Phone 7 launch took Microsoft out of the “bad joke” category with regard to phones, and gave the company some much-needed respect in the space.Microsoft still needs to respond to the tablet threat represented by the iPad, but at least for now, the Windows Phone 7 product takes it out of the category of companies that can’t execute here, and into the group of contenders.

Rovio Mobile, the Helsinki, Finland-based company behind the hit iPhone game, Angry Birds has no immediate plans to launch a Windows phone7 version of the game anytime soon, the company tweeted  this morning.
Microsoft put the Angry Birds icon on their site without our permission.”
So far, Angry Birds Lite is available for Android and Symbian OS.
Microsoft used NotifyMe icon without our permission on their Windows Phone 7  site
Carolina Milanesi, a researcher with Gartner, said the upcoming Windows Phone 7 platform is an improvement over Microsoft’s previous mobile offerings and that it is a “good effort.” She also said that is will need a lower average selling price (ASP) to truly make a dent in Android of the iPhone.
Look for the T-Mobile Windows Phone 7 devices (the Venue Pro and HD7) to clock in at around the same price.
That seems pretty reasonable to me, as the $200 price point is essentially the standard for high-end smartphones.
Should Windows Phone 7 be aiming for this segment of the market?

Samsung Fascinate Lounch

Samsung Fascinate  Lounch on September 9th
It looks like the Venison Wireless Samsung Fascinate will be landing on September 9 according to some internal documents that was leaked.

The Samsung Fascinate represents the fourth Galaxy S variant to hit the states, after the Vibrant, Captivate, and Epic 4G. On Venison Wireless, the "Samsung Fascinate" will be joining other Droid smart phones on the carrier's high-end line up, including the Droid X, Droid 2, and the Droid Incredible.

All evidence points to a September 9th launch for the Fascinate and also Venison Wireless will be offering the DROID 2, DROID X, DROID Incredible, and Samsung Fascinate as pre-pay devices.

If you weren’t aware, the Fascinate  is a Galaxy variant packing a 4-inch AMOLED display, Android 2.1 OS, 5MP camera, and a super fast Hummingbird processor.

Samsung Galaxy Tab is nothing more than a huge cell phone.

A video today showed that Samsung’s upcoming tablet Galaxy Tab, which boasts of a 7 inch screen, is nothing more than a huge cell phone. The Tab works as a full 3G phone.

The Galaxy Tab however, is no match to iPad, which has a 10 inches screen. Samsung is planning to release the Galaxy Tab in Germany on September 2. Samsung recently released a teaser video showing the features of the Galaxy Tab. It is expected that the Galaxy Tab will support Adobe Flash.

Blurring the line between phone and tablet even further, a video today shows that the seven inch Galaxy Tablet is also a huge cell phone.
Add two inches to that, and you have the Android-powered  Samsung Galaxy Tab which is somewhere between a phone and an iPad in size. And it works as a full 3G phone.
More realistic options include using a bluetooth headset or traditional earphone jack. It isn't certain if US carriers of the Samsung Galaxy Tab will require a voice plan (or even offer one) or if they will be sold like AT&T (T) sells its Apple (AAPL) iPads.
Speaking of iPad, the "Samsung Galaxy Tab" seems to be significantly smaller than the 10-inch screen iPad, though the resolution of the screens aren't that much different

T-Mobile G2 mini site was launched

Earlier this week a T-Mobile G2 mini site was launched. The new smartphone is expected to have a 3.7 inch screen and also have a sliding QWERTY keyboard as pictures above. A design feature sees the chin dropping on the G2.

although T-Mobile made the handset's name official via a teaser site, we had no idea until now what it would look like, but the mystery is solved: the T-Mobile G2 should be a side-sliding touchscreen device.

Running under Google's Android operating system, the handset should prove a great successor of the already phased out T-Mobile G1, the first ever Android-based mobile phone.

surprise iphone 4

Journalists poured into Apple's headquarters this morning for a surprise press conference, at which Apple discussed issues with the iPhone 4's antenna that have been plaguing the gadget -- and announced free cases to fix it.

This time he's ever been waiting for iphone users.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs didn't unveil any new gizmos or gadgets, nor did he announce a partnership with Verizon, as many pundits had predicted. He also didn't apologize, and didn't announce a software fix.

But he did announce a fix of sorts: free cases for iPhone 4 purchasers.

As Jobs took the stage, he began his announcement by unveiling a 15-minute presentation -- but Jobs promised that he would answer everyone's questions shortly. In the presentation, which detailed Apple's defense of the iPhone 4 from "antennagate" as he described it, Jobs demonstrated similar reception issues with other smart phones,  notably the Blackberry Bold 9700 and a Samsung smartphone

The message is clear: Cell phone reception is a challenge for the entire industry

And as to a Bloomberg report that the company has known ahead of time about issues with an antenna, Jobs called the article "a crock.

In answer to the numerous reports and complaints that have come out this week, Jobs detailed for journalists its cell phone testing facility, a futuristic environment that Jobs said contained "17 anechoic chambers." And Jobs explained that merely 0.55% of customers have been calling about the antenna flaws.

According to industry analyst Michael Gartenberg, return rates in the neighborhood of 5% would more indicative of serious flaws. Jobs explained that merely 1.7% of people had returned the phone.

But Apple never announced a software fix for the iPhone antenna problem, other than to explain that the hardware issue would be solved with the free cases the company would be handing out. Instead Jobs spent the majority of time at its press conference explaining that cell phone reception problems were an ongoing issue for the entire industry, and defending its testing methodology.

In answer to a question about Jobs' health, Steve explained that he felt better when he was on vacation last week, in Hawaii.

Apple, which surprised consumers and investors by announcing the iPhone 4 press conference earlier this week, had kept mum on what it would announce prior to the event.

The application for the Kindle device from Apple (iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch) has developed an audio player function, video, and a version for smartphones running Google Android has also emerged.

Besides offering the team the 5-band 3G (as the next Nokia N8) n Wi-Fi GPS accelerometer, the iPhone 4 includes a gyroscope, which detects the movement of mobile six-axis, which is very useful for video games.

It also includes a digital camera renewed 5 megapixel camera with flash LED and the ability to record video in HD quality (1280 x 720 pixels each table).

A second front camera allows video calls, but only with Apple's proprietary application called FaceTime.

The iPhone has the new version 4 operating system, now known as IOS, which is also available for earlier models, its most notable change is that it offers multi-tasking (ie, the ability to use multiple applications simultaneously) and tools to corporate users, such as synchronizing multiple email accounts hosted on Microsoft Exchange servers.

The 24th of this month will go on sale in the United States and parts of Europe, at a price of $ 199 for the 16GB model and $ 299 for 32 GB. Android goes to war with gun

The battle to be crowned king in mobile phones are getting better because the major brands use all their ingenuity to conquer the hearts of millions of users in Mexico and the world.

The last chapter of this story was written a few days ago, when Google announced Android, its mobile phone operating system, exceeded sales of the operating system of Apple's iPhone in the first quarter of the year in the U.S., after reaching 28% of market share compared to 21% of Apple's smartphone. RIM still leads with 38%, thanks to their BlackBerry phone, according to data from NPD.

The arrival to the U.S. market, European and Latin of a large number of models from different manufacturers with Android (like Motorola and Nextel), have placed the Google platform as a favorite to be played in the 2010 crown.

Faced with this phenomenon, Nextel and Motorola decided to join with the launch of Android i1, the first smartphone that will be Google's operating system with the functionality of radio (PTT, push to talk), such as the service operator Nextel phone market and seeks to position itself as a strong competitor in the mobile market.

This team has advanced telephony features such as navigation WiFi optimized with a new Opera Mini browser Nextel brand in May, which provides access to thousands of Internet applications, is tactile and has a 3.1-inch screen.

As a result, Nextel users can access applications and widgets available in the Android Market store and other applications like Google Search and Gmail.

At the same time, the i1 is preloaded with an application for Facebook. It has a 5 megapixel camera with geotagging capabilities and panning, MP3 player, text entry technology Swype and advanced features which will surely make it quickly in this sector.

Consumer Consent

Greg Page, vice president and general manager of Motorola's iDEN Mobile Devices, said the company has invested heavily in Android, so the brand is expected to see devices with this operating system in the remainder of the year.

At a press event held in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil, Campus Motorola in Libertyville, Mark Shockley, vice president of global markets and sales operations, Motorola Mobile Devices, said the software is a very important factor for the division of Motorola mobile devices, and should not lose sight of the needs of users.

"Motorola is changing as a corporation, as consumers seek new experiences and Android is one of the new features that integrate with Nextel," said the manager.

On the importance of the market, Latin America is in second place, because last year represented 21% of the total, after the United States with 61%.

In 2009, the company announced new phones with Android: backflip, QUENCH, CLIQ XT (Dexter in Mexico), DEVOUR, among others.

And is that smart phones that use Google software, Android, representing 28% of unit sales in the U.S. during the first quarter, up 21% of Apple, said the research group NPD. Research in Motion Ltd won first place with 36%.

The pattern of use of Google software is unstoppable and in fact threatens even the leader of industry sales, the Canadian company RIM, with its BlackBerry, which garnered 38% market share.

Two years ago, Google's system appeared and since then has been placed as the fourth most widely used platform in the world of smartphones and pass a share of 1.6% to 9.6%.

For his part, Sanjay Jha, co-chairman and CEO of Motorola, said that Nextel is an important partner with which it sought to strengthen its business strategy, increase its share in the smartphone market and make its product portfolio to become more competitive.

It is important to note that a year ago, the firm, based in Chicago, launched the Motorola Droid or Motodext with Google operating system to achieve position as one of the favorites for users.

Swype and Opera in the i1

Today, the revolution of touch screens play an important role when purchasing a new wireless device. As part of the strategy was born Swype, an innovative technology that allows users to enter text with a movement of the finger on the keyboard.

The study Touchscreen Mobile Devices Worldwide 2006-2013, Gartner Forecast, reveals that during this 2010 touchscreen mobile phone market will grow 97%, so expect the bid to intensify and improve the quality of the touch screens.

Michael McSherry, president and CEO of Swype, talked of how the touchscreen can be the difference when browsing through mobile phones, or in times of emergency, when people write text messages.

"Swype is a technology that supports multiple platforms, is easy and saves time," said McSherry.

Users of Motorola i1 may also have Opera web browser for mobile devices developed with Java platform, which already has 58.9 million users around the world.

The top 10 countries in use of Opera Mini in April this year have been Russia, Indonesia, India, China, Ukraine, United States, South Africa, Nigeria, Vietnam, UK and soon in Mexico.

3GS of Apple's 16GB iPhone on sale 97 USD

Walmart has revealed that it will begin selling the 16GB iPhone 3GS for $97 this week, more than $100 off of Apple's $199 suggested retail price.

Starting Tuesday, the lower capacity iPhone 3GS will cost roughly the same amount as Apple's 8GB iPhone 3G. Earlier Monday, a new rumor suggested Apple could be discontinuing the iPhone 3G, which was originally released in 2008.

According to CNNMoney, the new deal from Walmart still requires a two-year contract with carrier AT&T. The U.S. price reduction comes in advance of Memorial Day weekend.

"It is our commitment to always lead on price," said Mehrdad Akbar, senior category director for Walmart.

The move comes less than two weeks before Apple is expected to introduce its next-generation handset, when Chief Executive Steve Jobs delivers the opening keynote for the annual Worldwide Developers Conference on June 7.

The price reduction could be permanent. One analyst said Monday they believe Apple will formally reduce the price of the iPhone 3GS to $99 once the new model is released. Last year, after the iPhone 3GS was released, Apple reduced the price of the 8GB iPhone 3G to $99.

The partnership between Apple and Walmart started in 2005 when the retailer began a pilot program selling Apple's short-lived HP-branded 20GB iPod. Over time, the nation's largest retail chain began carrying Apple's full line of iPods, and in 2008 some of its stores began selling the iPhone 3G. Recently, company officials said they hope to sell the iPad by the end of 2010.
